Bears Cause a Fire in the Woods

On Wednesday, November 7, the Hastings JV Football team leads a 26-7 score in the away game against Brazoswood High’s JV Football team. As one might guess, the team must have been very prepared for their final game of the season and with this astonishing leading score they gained against their opponents, but the truth begs to differ.

“The team had only two days of practice for this game,” said David Martel, Hastings Varsity Football Coach. “So they tried their best and look what happened”.

Before the game, the team had a straightforward game plan in mind.

“The other team may be aggressive and a good football team, but we were going to win no matter what,” said Martel. “We usually don’t have a game plan before the match. We just do what we plan to do out there on the field with our defensive, offensive and coaches in mind to play better than the last game”.

Although the score tells of a crushing victory for Hastings, the football team had its own faults within the game to account for the score the Brazoswoods team managed to slip in during the game.

“Overall the game was pretty good overall and the other team was not bad either,” said JV Hastings Football player Abdulkhalik Salami. “Defense was okay in the beginning of the game and our linebackers couldn’t fall in place during some plays, which was part of why they could get the score on us, but we turned it around with our best efforts within our defense, offense, and the entire team in the later half of the game. I think that after tonight, I know what I would need to work on for next year”.
