Junior achievement provides the opportunity for High School students to change roles for one day. The AVID coordinator, AVID 4 Holly Sessions, who prepares students to attend middle school classes to inform children at an early age about how to manage their money was excited about got more members out of her classes.
“The Spanish Honor Society decided to get involved in this activity and more than having conquered children’s hearts, it was their hearts who were fascinated with the children’s enthusiasm,” Junior Achievement Coordinator, Tiffany Simple said.
“Children are nice, they always want to learn, and they are not afraid to participate,” were the words of National Society Honor President, Itzel Cavol. ‘’For them, high school students are the coolest on the planet,’’ she added.
Sessions provides the necessary materials for the class day but it is the students who decide and organize how to teach all the subjects, to middle school students and get their attention. During the break some AVID shares how high school students work better than what they expected. Middle school teachers were also impress for the way how all high school students managed to get the attention of each of the children through trivia, board games among others, without forgetting the main idea to teach. “It was impressive how everyone got involved and learned, I look forward to more clubs getting involved in the same ways as Spanish National Society Honor did,” Sessions said.
