Netflix & Solitude

What to stream while at least six feet away from everyone else

Social distancing has probably gotten you bored out of your mind, at least if you’re not used to staying in all day with nothing to do. While you should still continue to practice these precautions, there’s no need to count down the days until this is all over. While we’re all staying in the comfort of our own homes, this is the perfect opportunity to raid all of the best series currently available to us on Netflix.

Tiger King
If you’ve been stuck under a rock all this time, then you should probably add this to the top of your list. This true crime documentary mini series explores the life of zookeeper, Joe Exotic, and his longtime feud with animal activist and CEO Carole Baskin. There’s a whole lot of drama, crime, and other disturbing and shocking events that take place in this mini series. By the time you’re finished watching, you’ll be wondering who the true criminal really is.

The Witcher
If true crime isn’t your cup of tea, and fantasy is more like it, then you should really add The Witcher onto your binge list. Based on the book series, this Netflix original takes place in a fictional medieval time and is centered around the legendary Geralt of Rivia and his destiny-linked connection to princess Ciri. This is a great show and all, but a quick heads up, you should probably not be watching this with your parents.

The Haunting of Hill House
As the title suggests, this is a supernatural horror series that takes place in a gothic mansion, exploring the lives of a family of 7 and the trauma they develop while staying at the house. The psychological aspect of this show along with its complex and interesting characters are what make this whole experience so great. It’s definitely not your typical jump-scare kind of horror, but be warned, there are a good amount of those moments as well if you’re considering watching this at night on your own.

Parks and Recreation
Need something a little more lighthearted to distract you from all that is happening in the world? Me too. Consisting of 7 total seasons, this political satire comedy will keep you busy all quarantine. If you’re a fan of shows like The Office, then you should give this series a try.

All American
The second season is out and if you’re not yet caught up, now is your chance. This sports drama series is a unique and interesting depiction of the lives of aspiring high school football players. It’ll take you on a whirlwind of experiences as you explore the different worlds of two families coming from completely different lifestyles.
