The SAT is on Wednesday, March 6 for Hastings High School. From speaking to several staff and students, there have been severely mixed opinions on whether the SAT should matter enough to study and genuinely attempt your best. The SAT exam has become less and less relevant over the decades as many universities stopped requiring students to apply with their SAT scores. However, even if the SAT is less important than previously, sleeping or guessing on the SAT provides no benefit for anybody involved. Students should always study, and if not, at least try to perform their very best on the SAT exam. Even if students don’t perform as well as expected, attempting their best on the SAT will benefit the student much more than harm. If a student does perform exceedingly well compared to their expectations, they will also benefit as they’ll be able to utilize this score to be accepted into several colleges.
